Thien Duc headstone lettering needs to satisfy two requirements: the information must be correct and the layout must suit the headstone, grave design and selected granite. KANNO does not use one method for every memorial. The main techniques are sandblasting and CNC engraving; some designs may also use hand carving, painted lettering or gold leaf.

What is sandblasted headstone lettering?
Sandblasting uses abrasive media on a masked stone surface to create recessed letters or motifs. It is suitable for many typefaces, can provide relatively consistent depth and is commonly used on granite.
CNC engraving for granite headstones
CNC uses digitally controlled tools to engrave the approved design. It is useful when repeatability, accurate geometry and detailed layouts are required. The final result still depends on tool selection, machine settings, granite hardness and finishing after engraving.
Sandblasting or CNC: which is better?
There is no single answer for every headstone. KANNO selects the method according to the font, letter size, desired depth, quantity of text, decorative motifs and the required color finish. Some layouts suit sandblasting, while others benefit from CNC control.
Is hand carving still used?
Yes. Hand carving can be appropriate for selected letters, motifs or highly craft-focused details. It depends heavily on the skill of the craftsperson and is not the default method for every granite headstone.
Gold-leaf headstone lettering
Gold leaf can create strong contrast on dark granite and a formal appearance. The recessed lettering needs suitable surface preparation before finishing. Families can also choose other paint or color systems depending on the design, budget and maintenance expectations.

Headstone meaning and family remembrance
The headstone records the identity and key information of the deceased. Many Vietnamese families view a clear, dignified headstone as part of filial respect and remembrance. Traditional beliefs may also influence memorial presentation, but these cultural values are separate from technical engraving quality.
